For those that have been hanging tight for the release of the iPhone 12 range... the wait is finally over. Below we give you a quick summary of the major announcements from Apple's iPhone 12 launch.
For the first time ever, Apple dropped 4 phones at once! Yup, a full quad range of iPhones ;) and some of them are even using the same technology as NASA.
Oh... and of course... all four of the new iPhone's are 5G compatible, which is bad news for the tinfoil hat brigade.
So let's unpack the difference between each of the phones.

As the names suggest, the smallest device is the 12 mini and the largest is the 12 Pro Max. What you'll notice from the above is that the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro (unlike it's predecessor, iPhone 11 and 11 Pro) are the same size at 5.78 inches, with the main difference being in the cameras and aluminium verse stainless steel bodies.
The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max feature the three camera setup, whereas the iPhone 12 and 12 mini rock the Dual 12MP Ultra Wide/Wide setup.
The iPhone 12 mini acts as a smaller clone to the iPhone 12 with the main difference being the all important battery life. 17 hours vs 13 hours.
What's on the new list?
Other than 5G and an upgrade in the bionic chip (A14) for speed, the big talk is around LiDAR.
Don't worry if you have no idea what LiDAR means... most people don't. That's because it's a technology used by NASA to help with the next Mars landing. Yup, Apple have gone full space on us.
Firstly, we need to note that LiDAR is only available in the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Here's the explanation from Apple's website about this new technology.
"iPhone 12 Pro uses a LiDAR Scanner to measure how long it takes light to reflect back from objects. So it can create a depth map of whatever space you’re in. Because it’s ultrafast and accurate, AR apps can now transform a room into a realistic rainforest or show you how a new sneaker will fit."
As well as the benefits for AR apps, LiDAR means your night mode portraits will become a whole lot better by letting in 27 percent more light.
