Shane van Gisbergen Dominates NASCAR Weekend at Sonoma with Quad Lock

Shane van Gisbergen (SVG) continues to impress in his rookie year in the NASCAR Cup Series, and the recent race weekend at Sonoma Raceway was no exception. The hype around the New Zealand driver ahead of the Sonoma race was evidence of his rapid rise in the sport.

Decked out in stunning Quad Lock and Red Bull liveries, SVG competed in both the Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Cup Series, turning the weekend into a full SVG showcase. From his trailer to the track, everywhere SVG went, he was mobbed by fans and media. Finishing on pole in qualifying for both the Xfinity and NASCAR Cup races.

With SVG doing the double in Chicago the weekend prior, it was all about whether he could do it again in Sonoma. But Connor Zilisch was there to spoil the party on Saturday. Driving a brilliant race to fend off a charging SVG and continuing his strong performances in the Xfinity Series. He is one to watch for the future of NASCAR.

The two fought a strong battle out front all day, switching positions constantly as they blew the field wide open. Giving plenty of media coverage for their sponsors (Quad Lock and Roto-Rooter). This time, the roles were reversed from Chicago, with Zilisch claiming the top step of the podium. We’re sure there’s plenty more of this story to come.

The Sunday race was all SVG, as cars struggled to keep up with him as he broke the lap leading record with 97 out of 110 laps. Only losing the lead to the pit strategy.

The field was brought back to his rear with chaos at the latter stages; however, SVG was able to hold on and take the Red Bull car home comfortably.

At Quad Lock, we’re incredibly proud to be a part of SVG’s NASCAR story into NASCAR and are looking forward to how this story continues to unfold.

On to the next one!
