The Last Ride: The Melburn Roobaix 2025

The Last Ride: The Melburn Roobaix 2025

After nearly two decades of wild costumes, surprise turns, friendly banter, and dust-covered grins, the curtains are finally coming down on one of Melbourne’s most beloved cycling events, Melburn Roobaix. This year, on June 29, 2025, marks the final edition of the Melburn Roobaix, and with 1900 participants this year, it's set to be a big event.

Since its founding in 2006 by Andy White (FYXO), the Roobaix has been more than just a ride; it’s been a rolling celebration of cycling culture in Melbourne. Drawing inspiration from the legendary Paris-Roubaix, the Roobaix was created to capture the spirit of that historic race… minus the crushing pressure and competitiveness of finishing first. Here, the only goal is to have fun on two wheels.

“Cycle should be really accessible,” Andy says. “I want to make this event accessible for everyone.”

Unlike its French namesake, the Melburn Roobaix has no clock, no podium, and no rules. Whether you show up in lycra, a gorilla suit, or full retro chic, everyone is welcome. It's a day where vintage steel bikes, cargo e-bikes, fixies, and mountain rigs all roll together.

The suggested 42km route winds through Melbourne’s inner north in classic Roobaix style: bike paths, cycle lanes, cobbled alleys, shortcuts, gravel, and plenty of unknown detours. Riders who want to take it easy can cut corners or follow unofficial shortcuts and meet the crew at the end of the Brunswick Velodrome.

The Finish Line: Brunswick Velodrome

The ride culminates at the iconic World Famous Brunswick Velodrome, where the real celebration begins. From 2pm, riders start to roll in and are welcomed not with medals, but great food, cold drinks, and fun activities, from prize giveaways, a podium for best costume and games. It’s a well-earned celebration to close out the end of the day, all wrapping up just before the sunsets at 5pm.

Why This Year is Special

The 2025 edition will be the last Melburn Roobaix ever. FYXO is closing this legendary chapter with one final hurrah. Whether you’re a seasoned Roubaixer or have always thought “next year will be the year,” this is your last chance to be part of the story.

This year’s ride is shaping up to be the most unforgettable yet, thanks to a community that has grown stronger with each passing event.

“All of our partners, Quad Lock included, are so supportive; we’ve got the best partners ever.”

- Andy White, FYXO

For this Sunday, dust off your weirdest outfit, pump up those tyres, and join hundreds of others for a truly unmissable day. Whether you ride every weekend or haven’t pedalled in months, the Melburn Roobaix welcomes all with open arms and open roads.
