So what's new?

There are 2 new devices added to the growing Google phone family, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Although there have not been drastic changes in the overall design, the inside of the phone is the star of the Pixel 7 range. Google has upgraded its custom-made chip to deliver a faster, more efficient and more secure phone. From the improvements in the camera to the battery life, the Pixel 7 range is the most powerful Google phone yet.

Let’s take a deeper dive into the two new models.

The Pixel 7 Pro is Google’s flagship model receiving the newest upgrades on its Tensor G2 chipset, 6.7-inch OLED display and finer camera capabilities.

Google Tensor G2 Chip

The Tensor G2 Chip brings the following features to the table:

  • A boost in battery life 🔋
  • High level of security to keep all your information protected
  • Powerful triple camera system so you can capture videos just like a pro 🎥
  • Super intelligent dictation
  • Smooth real-time rendering for the best phone gaming experience 👾
  • Take pro-level photos with added drama and detail using the new camera features 📸
Camera

On the topic of pro-level photos, the new Pixel 7 Pro features a triple rear camera system including a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus, a 50 MP wide lens plus a 48 MP Quad Bayer PD telephoto lens. The new and improved camera introduces features such as Photo Unblur, Macro Focus and Motion Mode.

The Pixel 7 has a 6.3-inch OLED display and receives the same Tensor G2 chipset upgrade as the Pixel 7 Pro. This means you will get flagship-level performance and all the software advantages listed above in this model. However, the main differences between the Standard Model and the Pro are:

  • Display size: Pixel 7 Pro is 6.7-inch whilst the Pixel 7 is 6.3-inches
  • Camera quality: Pixel 7 has two rear cameras with a matte aluminum finish whilst Pixel 7 Pro has three rear cameras with a polished aluminum finish. The Pixel 7 Pro also has the added camera feature Macro Focus and more powerful zoom
  • Battery life: Pixel 7 packs a slightly smaller battery (4,355 mAh) while the Pixel 7 Pro features a 5,000 mAh battery, so we would expect the Pro to last longer on a charge. Both phones can last up to 72 hours with Extreme Battery Saver turned on

In summary, the Pixel 7 Pro is perfect if you are after a large display and a better telephoto zoom - otherwise, you can always opt for the less expensive Pixel 7 which still has some great features.
